China warehousing and air freight from China are billed apart. Air freight from China includes the air carriage, last-mile delivery and fuel. The September 2026 lane quote marks those prices as fuel-inclusive, so fuel is not added again. China warehouse handling is on the formal quote, not in the route total. An overseas-warehouse price includes storage, putaway, dispatch, packaging and carriage. Sydney fuel is 6.1% of the freight and stays outside the Sydney number on the Australia route. China direct and Sydney are two totals. They are not added together.
How a shipping total is built
China to Australia is the worked example below. The United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Europe and Japan each have their own route page, weight rule and currency. General goods, apparel and battery each use their own chargeable weight. Signature, cover, returns, remote areas and oversize are charged only when that shipment needs them.
Actual weight is the packed weight on the scale.
China direct uses actual weight and does not use volumetric weight. Sydney economy uses actual weight. Sydney standard and express use actual weight up to 3 kg, then the greater of actual weight and length × width × height ÷ 4000.
Chargeable weight is the weight used to pick the rate band.
China direct uses the product, the destination postcode and that chargeable weight. Fuel is already inside. China warehouse handling is not in this total.
Sydney uses the postcode zone and the weight band. The number on the route page is the local fulfilment price: storage, putaway, dispatch, packaging and carriage. Fuel at 6.1% of the freight is extra and is not inside that number.
The two totals stay apart. Duty and GST are in neither. On Select, a declared value of AUD 1,000 or more adds GST at 10% of the declared value, borne by the sender. ShopRest can coordinate payment or advance payment on supported routes.
Each route page shows that destination’s currency. China freight is converted from RMB at the indicative rate printed on that page. 1 AUD = 4.70 RMB. 1 USD = 6.69 RMB. 1 GBP = 8.85 RMB. 1 EUR = 7.51 RMB. 1 CAD = 4.70 RMB. 100 JPY = 4.22 RMB. A formal quote follows the reference live rate.
China warehouse
Scan-in, outbound picking, extra pieces and storage are the standard charges. The rates are confirmed on the formal quote, not on the route comparison. Cartons, tape and void fill are not included. Labels, hangtags, garment work, extra counts and warehouse insurance are chosen only when you ask for them.
Storage uses a unit price per cubic metre per day, multiplied by the storage method. A periodic count is included.
Bulk storage is charged per pallet per day.
The pick face is charged per bin per day. The rate follows the bin size: 20, 40, 48 or 80 compartments.
Scan-in is charged per piece: open the carton, count, receive and put away. Packing follows the agreed packaging specification.
Outbound picking covers pick and check, the waybill, packing and labelling, and handover to the carrier. The first piece is charged per order. Each further piece is charged on its own. The outbound charge is the first piece plus the extra pieces.
Air freight from China
Charged on chargeable weight and the product selected. Australia also uses the destination postcode. The United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Europe and Japan pages use that country’s weight bands and show the destination currency. China direct freight includes the air carriage, last-mile delivery and fuel. The September 2026 lane quote marks these prices as fuel-inclusive. China warehouse handling stays on the formal quote.
Overseas warehouse
The logistics price includes storage, putaway, dispatch, packaging and carriage. Overseas fuel is a percentage of the freight on the August 2026 partner card and is not inside that price. Sydney Economy, Standard and Express are 6.1% of the freight. The Australia route shows the Sydney total without that fuel added. The United States, United Kingdom and Germany local totals on their route pages are the same kind of price: the local fulfilment total, with fuel left outside it. A US fuel rate changes with the weekly reference and is confirmed on the formal quote. China direct and the local warehouse stay as two totals.
How to read the 36% example
The homepage figure is one worked example. It is not a saving on every product or every country.
1
Example, not a quote
In this worked example, China-direct fulfilment costs 36% less: USD 6.50 against USD 10.10 for one lightweight apparel item to Australia. The local side is the market cost of shipping from an Australian warehouse. The 36% is the gap between those two totals. Remote areas, failed delivery and returns are in neither total. The local total includes duty of USD 0.70, customs entry of USD 0.50, GST of USD 1.57 and a pick-and-pack charge of USD 1.50. China direct does not have those local import charges. These dollar figures are the homepage example. They are not the AUD freight the Australia route calculator returns for a postcode.
